How to contact Bituach Leumi: phone *6050, online personal account and branch appointments
The easiest way to reach Bituach Leumi (the National Insurance Institute) is its national call center: *6050 or 04-8812345, Sunday to Thursday, 8:00–17:00. But you cannot file a claim or send a document by phone — for that you need the online personal service or a branch appointment. Here is how to go about it, step by step.
Bituach Leumi (ביטוח לאומי) runs a national call center, reachable at *6050 or 04-8812345 from any landline or mobile phone. The service runs Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 to 17:00.
Important for new Olim: according to the official website, phone service is offered in four languages — Hebrew, Arabic, Russian and Amharic. English and French are not among them. If your Hebrew is still limited, prepare your questions in advance, ask someone to help you, or use the online chat with a representative, listed under “Contact Us” on the website.
To be served by phone you need your ID number (Teudat Zehut) and your PIN code (see below).
According to Bituach Leumi, the call center can provide general information, personal information on your file, order certificates, take payments of insurance debts, and order payment stubs and forms.
You cannot submit a claim, send documents or report a change in personal details by phone. Those are done online (claims directly on the website, documents sent directly to a branch clerk) or at a branch.

The PIN is a personal four-digit code that protects the privacy of your data when you call. Without it, personal phone service is not available.
If you do not have one, you can order it online or through the call center and it is mailed to your home in Israel. You can also obtain a PIN yourself on the personal service website. Do it early after arrival: postal delivery takes time.
Bituach Leumi runs a personal service website (ps.btl.gov.il) where you log in with a user code, which can also be ordered online. Once in, you can send a document to your branch, fill in an online form and submit claims online.
If you are searching for “Bituach Leumi login” or “personal account”, this is the site. If you receive a link by text message, do not click it: type the official address btl.gov.il yourself.
When a task requires meeting a clerk, Bituach Leumi has a dedicated page to book or cancel an appointment at a branch. Before you travel, check whether your task can be done online: the website itself recommends its digital services so you do not have to leave home.
To find the nearest branch, see our Bituach Leumi pages by city (address, phone, services) or the office map.
The Bituach Leumi website lists several dedicated call centers: one for people living abroad, one for paying insurance contribution debts, one for repaying benefit overpayments, an information line for the elderly and their families, one for vocational rehabilitation, one for reporting pregnancy bed rest and one for reporting fraud. They are presented on the “Call Centers” page of the official site.
The “Contact Us” section also offers a translator request and inquiry forms by topic (unemployment, insurance and collection, reserve service, long-term care…).
1. Calling without a PIN: personal service will be refused. Order it in advance.
2. Expecting to file a claim by phone: it is not possible, use the website.
3. Calling outside opening times: the service is announced Sunday to Thursday, 8:00–17:00.
4. Giving personal details to a fake Bituach Leumi: if a call or text looks suspicious, hang up and call *6050 yourself.
