After Aliyah, the to-do list can feel endless: opening a bank account in Israel, enrolling with a Koupat Holim, getting your Teoudat Zehout, handling Arnona with your municipality, activating Sal Klita, or registering kids for school. This 2026 Aliyah checklist helps you prioritize what matters based on your profile—time since arrival, family situation, and city—instead of tackling everything randomly.

The tool asks a few simple questions and builds an interactive roadmap: each step lists typical documents (passport, Teoudat Oleh, proof of address…) and links to our in-depth guides when you need more detail. The goal is a realistic overview of Aliyah 2026 steps that stays practical week by week.

Banking and an Israeli number often unlock Misrad Haklita and benefits; Arnona rules depend on your city (Olim discounts, deadlines, paperwork). Healthcare: choosing a Koupat Holim. Admin: Teoudat Zehout and Misrad Hapnim. Jobs: Israeli CV and local norms—pair with our CV builder, Hebrew document scanner, and banking, housing, jobs, and benefits guides.

How does it work?

The quiz has three questions: how long you have been in Israel, your family situation, and your city. Then the checklist generates typical steps (banking, Misrad Haklita, Koupat Holim, Teoudat Zehout, Arnona, Sal Klita, schooling for families). You can check off each step as you complete it.

Key steps for Olim in Israel

Steps cover the most common post-Aliyah topics: airport onboarding, opening a bank account, Misrad Haklita registration, absorption basket (Sal Klita), choosing a health fund, biometric ID appointment, Arnona discount at city hall, Bituah Leumi, and Olim tax points depending on your profile.

Frequently asked questions about Aliyah

How long does the Aliyah process take?
Typically 2 to 4 months from your first contact with the Jewish Agency to receiving your Aliyah visa. File processing takes around 18 business days, but back-and-forth for missing documents can extend this. Start early.
Do I need to speak Hebrew before making Aliyah?
No. Ulpan (intensive Hebrew course) is free for all new Olim and can start soon after arrival. Misrad Haklita offices in major cities have multilingual staff. Many Olim manage daily life without fluent Hebrew for the first months.
What is the Sal Klita and when does it start?
The Sal Klita (absorption basket) is a monthly stipend paid to new Olim. The first payment can be received at the airport or within days of arrival after registering at Misrad Haklita. Paid monthly for ~12 months then quarterly, for up to 5 years. Amount depends on family size.

Can I keep my original citizenship after Aliyah?
Most Western countries (France, USA, UK, Canada) allow dual citizenship. Israel does not require renouncing your original citizenship. Check with your country of origin as rules vary.
Is Aliyah free?
The administrative process is free. Budget for: plane ticket, certified document translations, and temporary housing in Israel. The Sal Klita and other Olim benefits help offset early living costs.
