Neighbourhoods

The Olim map’s neighbourhood cards, with their indicative rents. Not a ranking: visit before you choose.

  • Ir Yamim — Seafront, popular with French speakers. High-end, beach within walking distance: great for Olim families. A car helps for evening trips outside the area.

  • Agamim — Lakes & families. Residential area around the lakes: quiet, great for kids. Less “beachfront” than Ir Yamim.

  • Ramat Poleg — Residential & beach access. Very popular with Olim families: check walking distance to the beach by micro-area.

  • Kiryat HaSharon — North Netanya. Well connected (center / highway). Ideal if you work between Netanya and the Sharon.

    Indicative rent: 3 rooms 4,800 - 6,500 ₪ · 4 rooms 6,500 - 8,500 ₪

Other areas

  • City centreThe cheapest, with shops and Independence Square (Kikar HaAtzmaut). Older buildings: check the lift and the safe room.
  • Hotel strip (seafront)Touristy and lively, close to the centre. Year-round rents are high.

Settling in: local steps

  1. 1

Arnona — Put Arnona (municipal tax) in your name on key day, then apply for the olim discount: up to 90% on the first 100 m² for 12 months, to request within 24 months of Aliyah.

  2. 2

Municipal absorption department — The municipality has an absorption (Klita) department for olim: information centre, courses and social activities.

  3. 3

Ulpan — The International Ulpan of Netanya, 71 HaRav Kook Street, is one of the largest ulpanim in Israel. It runs under the Education and Aliyah ministries.

  4. 4

Health — Pick your Kupat Holim and family doctor. The city hospital is Laniado Medical Center, in the Kiryat Sanz neighbourhood.

  5. 5

School — Public school registration goes through the municipality. Call the school directly to check the language support it offers.

Getting around and working

  • TrainTwo stations: Netanya and Netanya Sapir. Allow about half an hour by train to Tel Aviv, depending on the station and the train.
  • CarThe coastal highway (Route 2) links Netanya to Tel Aviv and Haifa. A car often helps for getting between neighbourhoods.
  • JobsLocal jobs are fewer than in the centre of the country; many residents work in the Tel Aviv area. A local job usually needs more Hebrew.
  • ShelterAt every viewing, check there is a safe room (mamad) in the flat or a shelter less than a minute away.
